Dear Benny

As we remain in this world, our dear brother, Benny, is right now with the Lord! Amazing thought--absent from the body, present with the Lord!

What a dear man. He leaves behind a family that is crying and trusting. He was such a blessing--quietly working in the background. It was such a joy to be around him. He always made me laugh, too, but was always ready to talk about the goodness of the Lord. He was so hospitable, and I count as some of my best times of fellowship those spent at his home. And he could cook some serious brisket--not corned beef, but serious Texas barbeque brisket. And he loved doing it for us.

His favorite song was "The Love of God," which is one of my favorites. One verse in particular I think is just exquisite:
Could we with in the oceans fill
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade--
To write the love of God above
Would drain the oceans dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky.
I will always smile at the memory of dear Benny when I sing that, if I can make it through the song without crying.

Thank the Lord for His glorious salvation. He saved Benny, and He saved me. Trophies of grace. What a wonderful memory and legacy and heritage he leaves behind. I loved him.

What a beautiful tribute Vivi. It is such a comfort to know that those people who are so dear to us are only waiting to see us again some day - not gone forever. It is the wonderful hope that keeps us going in the tough times.
I know you will all miss him. He obviously leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love.

Hi Vivi,
It ws good to hear from you again. I'm having one of those lazy kind of days - not getting much accomplished. I need them once in awhile though.
Have a great holiday weekend.

Hey Vivi,
We must not live too terribly far from one another. We have a burn ban too, and water restricitons. Our poor lawn is looking rather sad these days, not to mention the flower garden. We did get a little over an inch of rain the other day. I couldn't thank God enough. I've been praying for rain.
We are going camping at Garner State Park the week after next. So we're getting all geared up for that. We haven't been camping in years. My younger son and family and some family friends are all going together. We've rented a couple of cabins. I'm looking forward to it. Everyone wants to just relax and be together. Our daughter may come for a day or two also. I've already bought the fixins for s'mores!!!
Thanks for the tip on menus. I will definitely check out the site. My poor husband deserves a little variety.
Have a great holiday weekend. They say we have a chance for rain tomorrow. We'll take it.
